The program strives to enrich the experience of artists served directly by the organization while expanding SBTT’s audience, capacity to serve, and educational and cultural offerings available to the community. The program provides creative and economic opportunities to local artists in an inclusive, supportive, and nurturing environment.

Each Artist-in-Residence (AIR) commits to working at the Studio with SBTT artists with the end goal of creating a collaborative show, artwork, or other project that gives exposure to both the AIR and SBTT artists. AIRs are encouraged to develop projects that speak to their artistic practice as well as the work and goals of SBTT artists and the organization. As part of their residency, each AIRs designs and implements an educational opportunity and public presentation of their project which invites to the public to engage with the artwork, SBTT, and its artists. Each residency and project are distinct and different but always aim to reflect that artist's time at the Studio and the relationships they build with SBTT artists.
